State Choir LATVIJA receives the Great Music Award!

State Choir LATVIJA has received the Great Music Award, which is the most significat price of music in Latvia. The ceremony took place in Latvian National Opera, March 8. 2011. The choir was nominated for the title "The Concert of the Year" for the closing concert of 13th International Sacred Music Festival, held in Riga Dome Cathedral Sept.4, 2010. This concert was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of great Georgian composer Giya Kancheli. His works "Don't Grieve" and "Styx" were performed.

Renown Latvian bass/baritoen Egils Siliņš performed solopart in "Don't Grieve", while Maxim Rysanov played viola solo for "Styx" with State Choir LATVIJA and Latvian National Syphony Orchestra. Conductor Māris Sirmais.
